Panel Discussion: Sense of Belonging

As human beings, we have a need that runs through us: to belong. During this panel, we had the opportunity to dialogue and open the conversation about it.

Before opening the panel, Judith, the host of The Window, and the guests had the opportunity to talk with the creative team of Spoken Portraits and at the end, Débora from Studio Bordeh gave to the team and panel members an embroidery designed and hand-made specialy crafted for the event.

When creating the layout for this embroidery, I envisioned different face silhouettes, each in a distinct color, to represent the diversity present in Tilburg. Each face occupies its own space within the map of the city — a symbolic space that affirms belonging, identity, and personal journey.

When seen together, these silhouettes not only coexist: they complete one another, transform one another, and build something greater. Just like the stories within the Spoken Portraits project, these faces intertwine to form the image of an international, plural, and vibrant city.

The result is a portrait that speaks about coexistence, contribution, and how each person, with their unique colors and contours, participates in the collective shaping of Tilburg.
