MINI EMBROIDERY KIT: ONE STORY AT A TIME

ree

It is not by chance that you have in your hands a mini embroidery kit, nor is it by chance that you have arrived at these letters and that we are entering into this conversation that I hope will awaken the excitement of taking needle and thread and telling one story at a time: your own story.

The mini embroidery kit "one story at a time" is a nod to the many possibilities that exist to approach the technique, in this case so practical and accessible to take anywhere. Think of it as a ticket to listen to those inner desires or shouts that you may have been ignoring, it's a ticket to go to your thoughts from a place that is kind to you, to them, to what you need to release some pressure from your day to day life.

What's in the kit?

Needle: The needle opens the way to what you want to say, tell and/or share, it connects you with the materials and thoughts and intuitively points you in the right direction.

Thread: The thread materialises your ideas, the image in your head and makes it visible.

Fabric: The fabric is the support, a blank canvas for endless possibilities.

Postcard: The postcard is your invitation, a reminder to return to the present when worries take over. Write on it, draw what you want to embroider, or share it with someone you want to give a moment of calm.

Time: Allow yourself a space of time to be calm with yourself. Have you ever asked yourself how many times a day you give yourself this space?

Connection: Allow the thread of your thoughts to unravel with the thread of the kit and you can draw it on the fabric.

Space: Use this kit to empty out what you have inside you that you don't need and give space to one or another desire that you have not allowed yourself to pursue.

INSTRUCTIONS:

1.            Find a comfortable space with you, your favourite drink, music, biscuits and the kit.

2.            Write down on a piece of paper a list of all those things that make you uncomfortable and that you want to let go of.

3.            Write down on another piece of paper what makes you feel proud of yourself.

4.            Draw a picture combining a maximum of three of the figures in the picture. Think about how you feel about yourself.

5.            Copy the drawing on the canvas.

6.            Take a thread (you can divide it, each thread is made up of six thinner threads, you can take just one or as many as you prefer) and thread it onto the needle.

7.            Tie a knot at the longest end of the thread.

8.            Start embroidering by inserting the needle into the fabric, from the back of the pattern to the front, completely covering the lines you have drawn.

9. That's it! Keep the embroidery as a charm, a symbol of all the possibilities you have to create when you allow yourself time to be at peace with yourself.

I understand that letters are not the same as a voice, an image or an encounter, so I invite you to take part in Craft Telling, and live the experience not only of connecting with yourself and the material but also with other people, with your environment and with the desire to build something bigger together.

Follow the Craft Telling thread and let's start by telling "ONE STORY AT A TIME".
