First Things First

Updated: Dec 13, 2021

Dear IMA diary,

I am starting to do everything that come to my mind without filters and this is the result, explode my thoughts, insights and questions in digital paper, wow! Pretty creative, nobody

uses digital media nowadays.

First, context:

To sum up my life in few words and start with the main reason to be here: I AM LOST. The end!

Okay, let’s try again... My name is Laura and I am an Imagineer to be. I came here after my studies in my home country (Colombia) following an intuition to run away from everything and the Netherlands gave me a warm welcome. Have you ever pointed in a map and go where your finger sharps? Well, me neither, but let’s think that was my case, I pointed the map, screamed my dream of studying abroad and came to Breda, Nl, to do the Master Imagineering. Conclusion: I AM LOST.

Dear diary, putting me out of my comfort zone did not mean that you have to put in front the challenge of start something without knowing anything, at this point I have to be honest: I feel that nobody around knows exactly what this is about, never mind, I will give it a try:

IMAGINEERING:

Trigger curiosity in people/ organizations in order to change mindsets in a co-creative process, designing transformative experiences.

But, why is everything so complex and with elaborated words? What does actually mean a transformative experience? What kind of process? In what context should I apply this? and so on, reading that over and over again, make me feel like I am swimming into a pool that just “imagineers” know and I am constantly fighting with the moments when people out of this come and ask: What is Imagineering?

At the beginning I didn’t understand why I decided to start a business program with an artistic background and a poor knowledge of how to build a “success company”, the poor knowledge still alive, but, the sensibility of how Imagineering explore the business world let my artistic vibes come and breath. Finally, it is possible to mix both sides!!!(art and business), is it? Or is it just an illusion?

The first thing that resonates with me is that we are talking about organizations based in human-centered approach, how we connect with others, how we develop relationships in order to flow trough the options of the process and evolve instead finding “The Big Truth”. No, “The big Truth” does not exist, we are living in the context of a complex world full of inter-connected knots, that means that every action has a reaction that affects the way we look at the things, we are living ambiguous, volatile, in constant changing in time-place, and Imagineering (since now IMA) give us the tools to keep clam, zoom in and out and look at what we want with multiple perspective.

At the end it is all about: Facilitate to others a way of how they trust the process while trusting the process!

Dear diary, I will keep going and see where I land.

P.S 1. I have a hate / love feeling with clichés phrases as: trust the process, think out of the box, kill your darlings…

P.S 2. Dates's apps are the best for explaining something that you don’t have idea what it is, the conversation always starts or ends in: Imagineering? Oh, interesting.

P.S 3. Being concrete is not really my ability.

With love,

My granny soul (sometimes young),

Laura
